We are a Parent Partnership Program where parents of home schooled children and teachers from the Deer Park School District work together to define the educational goals and materials our parents and students use at home. The first session of Home Link started in September 2000 with 38 students. Today, we have over 500 students. We also provide core and supplemental classes at our Deer Park and Clayton campuses.

MEMO - January 8 through 12, 2018

Second semester class registration is front and center! ‘Tis the week to establish all things in class selections for your sons/daughters. Ready, set, go-get-‘em! And have some second and third choices for each period in your hip pockets, ok? Check your mailboxes, or online for specific guidelines in the registration process.

Speaking of mailboxes, there is a notice therein about the departure of Specialist and para, Michelle Stalling, from our midst. Believe me, it’s as hard to write those words as it is to read them. But she’s heading towards an opportunity that she’s perfectly suited for, and on our end, we celebrate all the good this represents. Could you attend a going-away party being given for her, on Jan. 18th from 3-4:30 pm at Clayton? We’d love to have each of you join us – please be part of the momentum that springs her forward! Do come!

THIS is performance week for our high school Drama class. Yes, it’s time! ‘Anne of Green Gables’ and her experiences will be among us, thanks to Sharlene Steverding and her theatrical crew. The site is Deer Park High School, on Friday, Jan 12, at 1:30 and 7 pm, as well as Sat, Jan 13, at 1:30 and 7 pm. Tickets will be required for Sat night’s 7 pm presentation (pick those tkts up at the front desk). Two short lines that I love from Anne, with an e’s lips are: “Life is worth living as long as there’s a laugh in it.” And, “But really, Marilla, one can’t stay sad very long in such an interesting world, can one?” Come drink in this wonderful play, and find your own favorites, oh kindred spirits!

Some additional sweet performances are also coming up this week: the ‘Oceans Explore’ class would like to invite you to watch a short presentation called "A Home for Hermit Crab.” It will be in the large Classroom at the Deer Park campus, on Tues. Jan. 9th at 2:20 pm. Don’t miss it!

Additionally, our K-2 actors/actresses in the Storybook Theater class will be presenting "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" on Wed. Jan. 10th in the Woodworking Room; Deer Park; 11:30 am. Please join us!
No Gymnastics club THIS Wednesday, Jan 10, 2018

Thanks for bringing Connie your old, or used Christmas cards for the Recycle-Reuse class to, well, recycle and reuse. You’re the best to share such! Keep them coming! And thanks.

Boy! These snow-filled, soggy wet days, coupled with darkish skies that contain far less sun and light…it can feel a little dreary for some, yes? We become comfort-seekers. I’m reminded of one of my favorite exchanges in Winnie the Pooh - - Piglet sidles up to Pooh from behind. “Pooh!” he whispers. “Yes, Piglet?” “Nothing,” says Piglet, taking Pooh’s paw. “I just wanted to be sure of you.” Ah…there’s nothing like a friendly paw for reassurance! Each of us, regardless of age or busyness appreciates the touch of another, especially in the bleak midwinter. I guarantee there’s someone in your world who would not only quickly respond with a squeeze back to your hand, but that someone may just be longing for a comfort from you…just to be sure. Reach out! Make someone’s day this week.
