We are a Parent Partnership Program where parents of home schooled children and teachers from the Deer Park School District work together to define the educational goals and materials our parents and students use at home. The first session of Home Link started in September 2000 with 38 students. Today, we have over 500 students. We also provide core and supplemental classes at our Deer Park and Clayton campuses.

MEMO - Sept 18 through 22, 2017

Hallelujah you're back! Week one of classes is upon us, and we're shoving off! Thank you for being aboard, dear ones!

Did you know that we have 48 new families among us?! 'Tis true! And each new Mom or Dad will be in the Family Room with the rest of you program veterans. If you see some unfamiliar faces, will you be your friendly selves, thrust out your hand, say, "Hi there, I'm Molly, and I've been here about 15 years...how bout you?" Feel free to substitute your own name and particulars...and let our welcoming spirit reign. Thanks much!

We also have a new Consultant among us- well actually, Linda Wallman is a sweet returnee. She consulted for Home Link for a handful of wonderful years before she retired. This summer, we were able to convince her to come back and make us all the better. Linda said yes, but only for a few days per week. Done, we said! Linda's the reason that we have so many additional families joining us. (They’re all survivors of our program’s waiting list; salute them as you say hello to them!) Anyway, Linda will be using my office during the first number of weeks, while her office is constructed. Please poke your head in my/Linda's office and welcome her as well!

Next week, on Tuesday, Sept 26th, Deer Park is having a district-wide Safety and Security day. At Home Link, our approach will be very similar to the safety procedures that Specialists guided their classes through last January. If you have questions, please ask me or your consultant.

Picture Retakes- October 9th, 1:00-3:00 pm. If you were unable to join us on Picture Day, please come and bring your smile with you on October 9th. Appointments are not needed, just drop in between 1 and 3 that afternoon.

Gymnastics club starting time has changed from 3:30 to 3:15 pm, on Wednesdays. This is in effect for the months of September, October and November, only. In December, starting time resumes to 3:30 pm.

Yep, there's new carpet throughout the Deer Park site; part of a change that's still in process. MaryLou, and Gus's efforts this summer were herculean…they emptied rooms of furniture and books and all the 'stuff' of school life. Everything was re-staged in the gym; an amazing feat! Facts: the Resource Library books and materials filled more than 500 boxes, and, it took 242 boxes of books to give the library area an echo.

Did I catch you up on a few changes and new faces? Good! As you wait for boxes of curriculum, and help your children to their new classes...you'll feel the gears shift as you take on this new school year. But perk up Buttercups, THIS year will be the best! It's new, its fresh, and it has YOU in the driver's seat. Thanks for bringing us along; I see smooth sailing ahead…heeeeeere weeeee go!!
